top five nba all-star logo

Image
with the all-star weekend just around the corner, i'm getting into the mix of all-star posts in the blogosphere. we all know by now that me williams will be in the all-star game after all after he was named as chris bosh's replacement. chris paul will also play at the all-star game so i think carmelo anthony will not be playing this weekend. with those things out of the way, here we go with the top five nba all-star logos in my book: at number 5 is the logo used for the 2001 nba all-star held at the mci center in washington d.c. i think the reason why i picked this is the person currently residing in the white house. number 4 is this number from the all-star game in 1981, three years before i was born. :D what i like about this logo is its simplicity and the way they use the colors on the logo. number 3 on the list is the logo used for the all-star game in las vegas. they surely picked the right inspiration for this logo. number 2 is the logo for next year's all-star ga...

kobe through the years

Image
i may not be a fan of the los angeles lakers but i do know that kobe bryant is one phenomenal player (and phenomenal might even be an understatement when it comes to the black mamba). so i scoured the interwebz for photos of bryant through the years. and without further ado, here they are: if this is today, imagine how scary the hornets would be! they know they are looking at the future of the nba kobe: welcome to the league dwight woah! is that jason kidd?! lol he (kidd) kinda reminds me of a certain pro wrestler from this angle. (ok, i included this not because of kobe but because of kidd. lol. but you have to agree that kobe's shooting form is on display right there.) y'all know what's gonna happen next right? another rim bender for the big fella and chalk up an assist for kobe ...and steve nash is not exactly a short guy dare to compare? and there you go, a glimpse on kobe's campaign in the nba. enjoy his game while you still can. as good as he is today, you c...

they want the lakers vs. spurs series

the hornets lost two games in san antonio. the lakers lost twice in salt lake city. both series are tied and there have been a lot of predictions on how the rest of the games in these two series will go. san antonio looks like the champions that they are but the series is going back to new orleans. the lakers' kobe bryant is hurting and andrew bynum will likely be out for the postseason. one cannot deny that the hornets can topple the might spurs and the jazz can finally reach the western finals after years of frustration. but tv people are rooting for a spurs-lakers showdown. the reason is starpower. los angeles is known for its popular citizens and san antonio is popular because they have the spurs winning the championship every other year. if the hornets and the jazz advance to the finals, tv people are afraid that supporters outside utah and new orleans would sleep. sure, that's a possibility. but what about the deron williams versus chris paul story line? is that...

kobe won mvp race?

Image
the la times reported that kobe bryant has won the mvp balloting . lakers fans are surely celebrating. for their sake, i hope this is the real deal. i don't know what kobe fans would say if the la times somehow got it wrong. well, espn quoted the story so it might be true. but since it is not yet announced, i'm still arguing that cp3 is the mvp this season. fox sports also quoted the report . one comment caught my attention and it goes something like kobe finally playing good team basketball as gasol has improved his game after joining the lakers mid-season. hmmm... gasol's a great player and the reason why he is performing better in los angeles is that he plays with kobe. any player of gasol's caliber would benefit from having a teammate who draws a flock of defenders every game. so, i'm not buying that reasoning. sure, playing with kobe has improved gasol's chances of scoring and rebounding, but i don't think it is proper to say kobe has helped g...

los angeles lakers vs. denver nuggets game 1: kobe, gasol teamed up for the win

Image
i was expecting the series between the lakers and the denver nuggets to be a high-scoring affair. well, they did not disappoint as kobe bryant and pau gasol came up with great performances to draw first blood, 127-114, in their series with the eighth-seeded denver nuggets . gasol scored 36 and grabbed 16 boards while kobe scored 18 of his 32 points in the last eight minutes to put the game away. kobe bryant , arguably the best individual player in the game is looking to get past the first round of the playoffs for the first time since shaq left for miami. the past years without shaq, kobe was without a really strong supporting cast. this year, the lakers saw andrew bynum stepping up his game. although the youngster is not suiting up yet for the playoffs, he is one of the reasons for the early success of the lakers this season. kobe also has gasol now and the spaniard's game 1 performance just shows how tough the lakers are. still, i'm rooting for the nuggets.

los angeles lakers vs. denver nuggets = allen iverson vs. kobe bryant

Image
i think it's safe to say that not many of us expected the lakers to sit atop the western conference when the 07-08 nba season started. in fact, i think that many people expected the denver nuggets to finish the regular season better than the lakers. the playoffs will start between these two teams with the nuggets being the last team to make the cut in the crazy western conference. with kobe and pau gasol providing the one-two punch for the lakers, denver's "answer" would be "the answer" and carmelo anthony. iverson is no doubt one of the best ever to play the game. he's a competitor and he obviously love the game. he can create his own shots and is capable of scoring at will, just like kobe. this match-up between the nuggets and the lakers can be expected to provide the thrill that only the nba playoffs can offer. i remembered the series between the 76ers and the bucks back in 2001 when allen iverson and ray allen traded 40+ points games. that show...

Rockets Still Rising, Beat Lakers For 22nd Straight W

Image
i'm sorry rockets fans for saying that the houston ballclub will fall to the nuggets . well, obviously, they survived that game and a lot more to continue their hot streak which now stands at 22 after soundly beating the El Pueblo de Nuestra Senora la Reina de los Angeles de Porciuncula Lakers . the rockets now won 26 of their last 27 games and 31 of their last 34. They have won 15 consecutive games at the Toyota Center, 10 in a row since Yao went out with a broken foot and 11 of their last 13 games by double digits . the lakers though are without center pau gasol. but then again, who would use that excuse knowing that the rockets are also without all-star center yao ming? oh, i forgot, a lot of people are still not sold on the rocket's meteoric rise in the west. but kobe bryant a.k.a. black mamba, knows that the rockets are a special team for having won those 20+ wins. " People who say that are the same people who said me scoring 81 was nothing because we played again...

gasol joins lakers

pau gasol has been traded to the lakers for kwame brown, aaron mckie, jarvis crittenton and first-round draft choices for this year and in 2010. now, i think kobe will not be asking to be traded anymore as they already have a promising big man in bynum and now, gasol will be wearing a lakers jersey. this trade also means that rudy gay will be the go-to guy for the grizzlies as stromile swift is set to join the nets in exchange for jason collins. unfortunately for me, i traded rudy gay last week in fantasy hoops. :(

kobe's triple double leads to loss

now, that's an easy way to reach triple-double. :D kobe just had a triple-double in their game against the detroit pistons. he had 39 points, 10 rebounds, and a career high 11 turnovers. that's gotta hurt. the lakers though are without bynum, ariza, and mihm. anyway, it was tayshaun prince who sunk the game winner; a three to give the pistons a 90-89 win. the lakers just keep on dropping games and the only win of the lakers in recent memory is against the knicks. sure, kb24 can be dubbed as the best player today in the nba, but he surely needs his teammate, especially bynum. the loss to the pistons is a very bad omen for the lakers as they will be going on a loooong road trip. in that stretch, they would face washington, orlando, and the red-hot toronto. i think the lakers will finish thier nine-game roadtrip with a 5-4 record. so, that would be three losses to go? hehehe

lakers won, hornets lost, new york's balkman suspended, and more

everyone has been taking notice of the new orleans hornets since they are on a nine game winning streak. but that was before they faced the warriors. led by stephen jackson and former hornets superstar baron davis, the warriors snapped the hornets' nine game winning streak. as usual, b-diddy had a line of 23 points, nine assists and three rebounds. on the other hand, cp3 has 28 points, a dozen assists and a couple of rebounds. exciting game before the warriors break away during the latter part of the last quarter. yesterday, i forgot, kobe and the lakers won. well, against the new york knicks. i am a big fan of the knicks and i hate seeing them like this. well, at the said game, kb24 almost reached triple-double. the game also featured the elbow given by renaldo balkman to vujacic. it's accidental though according to isiah thomas. there was no foul called after vujacic took that elbow. but the powers that be in nba reviewed the play and decided that it was a flagr...
