who's got the baddest f1 helmet?

Image
the cars are not the the only sleek things in formula 1. there are kick-ass helmets too. anyone familiar with f1 knows that each driver has his own helmet. so, i did a bit of snooping around to bring you these f1 helmets. giancarlo fischella will be suiting up again for force india this season and he'll be wearing this helmet for the 2009 season. not too shabby but not too great either. adrian sutil, fisichella's force india teammate will be rocking this helmet this year. better than fisichella's in my opinion. back with renault for the second year after his one-year stint with mclaren-mercedes, fernando alonso has this for this year. looks good but i think i will go with sutil's still. heikki kovalainen would be looking to improve his last year's performance this season. hopefully, the helmet will not be the only thing he's changed for the better. it's tough but my mclaren bias means i'm picking this helmet over sutil's. jarno trulli, still w...

lewis hamilton likes bob marley too

Image
photo from here macka b, you're right, everybody loves bob marley. even lewis hamilton. according to the youngest f1 champion ever: "before melbourne last year i watched a comedy while I was getting changed. i had my headphones on and was just laughing my head off. i don't listen to music at a race, but it's more because i need to be relaxed. if i did, it would be calming music like marvin gaye or bob marley." i'm glad we agree on one thing lewis. because honestly, i don't think dropping your ex-girlfriend for nicole is such a "good" move. dude, she was with you when you were a nobody. but hey, i don't know what happened between the two of you so, i'm just gonna shut my trap and list down some of the people i know who loves bob marley. 1. me 2. lewis hamilton 3. brian grant (he's got a tattoo of the man) 4. moose ( he's got this post ) 5. serbia (well, a group of people) ( they have this statue ) 6. chicago bulls'...

senna back in formula 1

Image
may 1, 1994, triple f1 world champion ayrton senna died after crashing at the 1994 san marino grand prix. the name senna would then forever be linked with imola and the push to make formula one a safer sport. this year, ayrton's nephew, bruno senna will be aiming to give honor to the name senna again as the youngster is named by honda as one of their drivers for the 2009 season along with jenson button. but bruno senna though might only take part in the first four races after honda, the japanese carmaker pulled the plug on its involvement with the f1 operation. according to reports, brazilian company petrobras is leading the effort to save honda. they can only guarantee the first four races though for the team...for now. hopefully, the team could attract other sponsors to make sure that it can compete in all the races in the 2009 calendar. and since the brazilian gp is the penultimate race in this year's calendar, i hope we can once again see a senna driving an f1 car in b...

f1 donuts?

Image
nascar would have a burnout competition , not surprising? well, how about a formula 1 car making donuts? impossible? not really as nick heidfeld just created some donuts using bmw sauber 's car. the stunt was done for the people working for the team as a thank-you to the support that the team has been getting from its employees and fans alike. although heidfeld damaged the car's front wings while making those donuts, i'm sure he won't get into any trouble with the team boss.

michael schumacher to drive in bahrain, fia president max mosley should resign

michael schumacher will be back for the bahrain grand prix, paddock talk reported . the reason why the seven-time world champ will race once again is that brazilian felipe massa injured his wrist at the malaysian grand prix. now, people wanted to see how lewis hamilton would fare against the great schumi and come raceday, we will see just how can the youngster match up against the legendary driver. also, kimi would now be driving the same car as schumacher and we will see just who the better driver is (or at least i hope so). people who will watch the bahrain gp because of the "interest" brought on by the FIA president max mosley will be in for a treat as schumacher will be looking to put ferrari back on top of this year's constructors' championship. in other formula one news, FIA president Max Mosley is under fire after this . regarding this issue, the times reported: "Among car manufacturers involved in Formula One there was particular disgust in Germany wh...

2008 Australian Grand Prix Result - Lewis Hamilton Won

Image
a bit late again but here it goes. lewis hamilton won the 2008 australian grand prix which means he's got ten points and is obviously the leader in the drivers' championship standings. nick heidfeld who qualified fifth upstaged his teammate robert kubica to earn a second-place finish. nico rosberg, son of former world champion keke rosberg completed the top three. rosberg's third place finish is his best so far. it is interesting to note that his father's last win in f1 was in the 1985 australian grand prix. keke also last participated in an f1 race in the 1986 australian gp. anyway, only seven drivers finished the race. on fourth is renault's fernando alonso; mclaren's kovy, fifth; williams' nakajima, sixth. toro rosso's bourdais had an engine failure with just three laps to go, he was nevertheless placed seventh which means two points. defending champ kimi raikkonen also had engine problems and had to settle for eighth. honda's reubens bar...

2008 Australian Grand Prix Qualifying - Lewis Hamilton On Pole

This might be a little late but here's the result for the 2008 Australian Grand Prix Qualifying: First Session: Five minutes to eliminate the sixth slowest drivers. Eliminated were Super Aguri's Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson; Force India's Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella; Sebastian Bourdais of Scuderia Toro Rosso and Nelson Piquet of Renault. Second Session: Six drivers were eliminated including defending champ Kimi Raikkonen after his Ferrari suffered fuel pressure problems. Also eliminated were former world champion Fernando Alonso, hometown hero Mark Webber, Honda drivers Jenson Button and Reubens Barrichello; and Williams' Kazuki Nakajima. Third Session: Nine drivers remained and all of them except Sebastian Vettel got the chance to post their fastest time. Due to an oil problem, the German started tenth in the grid. Of the remaining drivers, Lewis Hamilton, last year's runner up posted the fastest lap time. The Briton was followed by Robert Kubica...

hamilton faster than schumacher & raikkonen

lewis hamilton, that guy who has rewritten the record books last year seems to be getting better. recently he beat seven-time world champion michael schumacher and defending champ kimi raikkonen. it would have been a great win but it did not happen in any race but in the testing session held in barcelona, spain. although schumacher retired more than a year ago, he still drives a an F1 car for ferrari. i don't know if he is the test driver for the team or he just wants to drive as fast as he once did. anyway, even kimi "the iceman" raikkonen wasn't able to keep up with lewis' pace. this does not mean anything though when it comes to predicting who will win the season opener in australia. hamilton could lead now but kimi might be faster in qualifying. teams in F1 of course are secretive when it comes to their real capabilities on the tracks. alonso even said that bmw may not be showing it right now, but they are really fast. the two-time world champion said...

hamilton dominates at barcelona

everyone interested in f1 is waiting for the season to start. but there is already plenty of action what with f1 teams testing their cars. in the recent tests in barcelona, mclaren's lewis hamilton posted the fastest lap time ahead of fernando alonso. ferrari though is absent at the said session. bmw sauber now looks like the team last year when they beat everyone except mclaren and ferrari. kubica posted the third fastest time. and surprisingly, fisichella posted the fourth fastest time. check out autosport for the complete result. looks like reubens is still trapped with honda at the bottom. too bad. :(

mclaren let down lewis hamilton

well, that was according to the supremo, bernie ecclestone. the outspoken f1 chief executive said that lewis could have won the championship last season but mclaren let him down. well, we all know the story by now, lewis had had two races to win the championship but he faltered and lost by the slimmest of margin to the iceman. i don't know why ecclestone would say such things though, but then again, bernie has always been known for statements such as the one he gave thursday . the supremo added that alonso going back to renault is a wise decision. well, i certainly agree. i am excited now for the start of the season. i wanna see how kovy drives a mclaren, how kimi defends his crown, how alonso will fare with renault's car, how hamilton can improve, and if massa has grown taller. :D

super aguri trouble

in f1, people would more often than not root for high profile teams like ferrari, mclaren , renault , or bmw sauber . but i think that some fans of the sport would prefer underdogs like super aguri . the japanese outfit may not be as popular as the other teams but the fact that they are competing at this level with a very tight budget (compared to other teams of course) is the reason why the team retains it fans. but will super aguri finish this season? well, early on, during the test sessions, i noticed that aguri is not testing their new car along with the other teams. and then, this piece of news surfaced. mosley, you know the guy, said that he fears that he is not sure whether all eleven teams will finish the season. "i think it's difficult for those teams not directly connected to a manufacturer, and who don't have substantial private backing," said mosley referring to super aguri. "Somebody has to put the money up, but then I wrote to the teams telling ...

piquet says all's good

last year, we all know what happened to mclaren. whew! early in the season, i was really thinking that that was the season where they would finally break ferrari fans' hearts. but how wrong i was. i can see three factors why the team failed to win it all last year. the first one of course is the spying scandal which took them out of the constructors' championship, the second is the bickering between alonso and hamilton or hamilton and alonso to some. the third is that the ice man is really that damn good! the second factor will hopefully no longer be an issue for hamilton and alonso as they are now on different teams. hamilton stayed with mclaren (of course) while alonso went back to renault. hamilton now has kovy as his teammate while alonso has young brazilian nelson piquet jr., the son of nelson piquet sr. (naturally :D). i think kovy fits well with mclaren, after all, he will not be looking for the team to give him preferential treatment. in fact, he knows that he...
