senna back in formula 1

may 1, 1994, triple f1 world champion ayrton senna died after crashing at the 1994 san marino grand prix. the name senna would then forever be linked with imola and the push to make formula one a safer sport. this year, ayrton's nephew, bruno senna will be aiming to give honor to the name senna again as the youngster is named by honda as one of their drivers for the 2009 season along with jenson button.

but bruno senna though might only take part in the first four races after honda, the japanese carmaker pulled the plug on its involvement with the f1 operation. according to reports, brazilian company petrobras is leading the effort to save honda. they can only guarantee the first four races though for the team...for now.

hopefully, the team could attract other sponsors to make sure that it can compete in all the races in the 2009 calendar. and since the brazilian gp is the penultimate race in this year's calendar, i hope we can once again see a senna driving an f1 car in brazil.

the cars are not the the only sleek things in formula 1. there are kick-ass helmets too. anyone familiar with f1 knows that each driver has his own helmet. so, i did a bit of snooping around to bring you these f1 helmets. giancarlo fischella will be suiting up again for force india this season and he'll be wearing this helmet for the 2009 season. not too shabby but not too great either. adrian sutil, fisichella's force india teammate will be rocking this helmet this year. better than fisichella's in my opinion. back with renault for the second year after his one-year stint with mclaren-mercedes, fernando alonso has this for this year. looks good but i think i will go with sutil's still. heikki kovalainen would be looking to improve his last year's performance this season. hopefully, the helmet will not be the only thing he's changed for the better. it's tough but my mclaren bias means i'm picking this helmet over sutil's. jarno trulli, still w...

tim duncan sinks rare three to force 2OT : san antonio spurs beat phoenix suns

tim duncan is not known for his outside shooting. well, he can shoot it with the best of them in the preimeter but this guy has never taken a lot of threes in his career. he doesn't need to since he's got a great inside game. but when the san antonio spurs needed a three, tim duncan proved that he is indeed clutch as he sank a three with seconds left to force a second overtime. the spurs would go on to beat the phoenix suns 117-115. tim duncan finished with 40 points, eclipsing lebron james' 32-point outing as well as chris paul's 35 points for the hornets . the big man also grabbed 15 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. tony parker scored 26 and manu ginobili scored 24 off the bench. michael finley added 13 for the spurs. the game would have gone to a third overtime if not for ginobili who, with 15 seconds drive to the basket and made a layup. amare stoudemire led the suns with 33 points but fouled out in the first overtime period. shaq was in foul troubl...

first post.yey! i love sports although i get the feeling that the feeling ain't mutual. but that won't stop me from ranting about this and that sport. i particularly like formula one and nascar, now, i am not giving one or the other preferential treatment. but to tell the truth, i have been a longer f1 fan than nascar. apart from these motorsports, i also like superbike and motogp, again, no preferential treatment although that may change if biaggi crosses the fence or rossi for that matter. i also love basketball though am too short for the game, i think. i got this fantasy team at cbssports and i think the team's doing well, three wins and a loss is good enough for this guy. i also started watching the nfl especially now that it is close to superbowl season. although i am still in the process of getting to know more about the sport, i am aware that the new england patriots are favored. good times in boston huh? and since i have mentioned boston, we cannot leave o...
