hit game-winning shot, get traded | shawn marion traded to raptors

Image
(shawn marion going out with a bang, hitting a game-winner with his last shot in miami) thursday night, shawn marion delivered the final blow to deal the bulls another loss with a dunk with 1.1 seconds left. that dramatic shot though looks like the last shot shawn marion will ever take for the miami heat as the team reportedly traded him and marcus banks to the toronto raptors for jermaine o'neal and jamario moon. this will be the second time that marcus banks and shawn marion have been traded at the same time. what's the deal with these two anyway? are they inseparable? lol. also, this is the second time that they are traded to a guy with the last name o'neal. :D anyway, some people are calling the heat the winner on this one. they have acquired a good low-post player with an expiring contract which means they have taken care of two things. first, they have made a good move to make the team relevant come playoffs time. and two, they are still in place to secure the s...

nba trade rumors: jermaine o'neal for shawn marion

last year, the memphis grizzlies practically gave away pau gasol to the lakers. the move propelled the lakeshow to the finals. that shows how one trade can make (or break) a team. this year, with the trade deadline approaching, trade rumors are numerous but i think only a few of them would pull through. one player who managed to make it at the top of the trade rumor queue is shawn marion. some people expect toronto to make a push to acquire marion in exchange for jermaine o'neal. that was a fast turnaround for toronto. this summer, they basically traded tj ford fior o'neal and now it looks like they have given up on the jermaine experiment. two things could convince toronto to trade o'neal away. first, jermaine's inability to stay healthy for a long time. second, andrea bargnani's recent surge. o'neal has already missed numerous games this season. bargnani on the other hand has stepped up while filling in for o'neal. that in my view makes jermaine...

orlando magic vs. toronto raptors game 1: magic dominates

Image
lebron scored 32, chris paul scored 35, tim duncan had 40, dwight howard has 25 in his team's series opener. by looking at the scoring output only, one might think that dwight howard did not dominate the raptors as the three aforementioned stars did to their first round opponents. but that's not really the case as howard really imposed his will on the outmatched toronto raptors . the guy grabbed 22 rebounds and swatted away five shots. if that's not dominating then i don't know what is. howard's great game led to the magic taking game 1 of the series with a 114-100 win over the visiting toronto raptors . howard's dominance in the paint is coupled with rashard lewis brilliant defense. while lewis is known more for his offense, he showed that he can play some D after containing all-star forward chris bosh for most of the game. bosh only made 4 out of 11 field goal attempts. the rest of his 21 points came in from the free throw line where he was 13 for 1...
